Finished project
A villa for two families in Mira - Venice 2007
The inspiration comes from a nearby Venetian villa. Here however, the residential
function is duplicated.
The modern interpretation, a solution made with load-bearing steel cross supports
and pillars of normal profile, and of (stopping, buffering, plugging) an empty
box with an external covering on the face view.
The two houses are situated east-west, having the principal facade from south or north, in the direction of the principal street artery of the Riviera of the Brenta and the river. Two arcades crown the houses.
The materials for the finishing are detailed in tradition: terra cotta tiles for the roof covering, copper for the gutters, fronted in Istrian stone, window and door frames in dark oak as in the book.
For the external finishing, the traditional hand-made brick is realised with
the red clay colour of the original location,
and they are recreated in a modern version without unnecessary sand.
