PROJECT OF THE RESTORATION OF VILLA VALIER-BEMBO MIRA VENICE

In the field of restoration of the XVI c Villa Valier-Bembo in front of Brenta, there came to light a few frescoes attributed to Zelotti,
made in the same period that this artist also worked in the nearby Villa Malcontenta, a project of Palladio.
These frescoes on the interior of a winding staircase this structure having stairs in trachite and a parapet in wrought iron, so they are almost identical to those that Palladio planned for the Convent of the Carità in Venice.
Moreover, it is a pure hypothesis in the reconstruction of part of a villa opposite the river demolished in 1932, having certain historical icon elements, traces of the fondamenta (street) and other finds retrieved in the course of the restoration of the same villa.
The reconstruction, even though theoretical, is precise in the dimensions of the facade above the water, consisting of four paraste and a final gable to portray a grand triumphal arch very much like one which Palladio planned for the arrival in Venice of King Henry III in 1574.

The base of the wall is fully plastered from where they depart to huge columns in order and the final band on the face-view on which rests the covering. They are the constructive elements that mark out this project of a residential installation situated a short distance from the Palladian Villa Malcontenta which was it's inspiration.

One of the first examples of houses along the Brenta in the area of Fossolovara (now Stra), which was gravitating under the influence of the city of Padua.
A great cultural unrest was existing in those years in Padua (XV c) and frequently and most importantly were the exchanges with Florence where it was already in full Renaissance.

It is typical of the type of villa which spread out overland and it protected from the sun with an entrance construction of three pointed arches. Evidently the concept of the "villa" as Palladio designed it, still had to be born again.

In this example between the first and those remaining today, one can see particular interesting forms of the installation of the door structure (columns, capitals, arches) that are producing proportions similar to those of the Hospital of the Innnocents that Brunelleschi had constructed a little earlier in Florence. Moreover the capital is equal to that on the cloister of the Abbey of Praglia (Padua), a project of Lorenzo of Bologna who in this period was commuting between Florence and Padua.
